When and how did you discover Game Maker?
Have you used any other game creation programs?
Games Factory demo, was pretty good, but not enough customability (is that a word?)
Klik and Play "school" version, was somewhat good. I was able to make it scroll, and add transitions between levels, but it was definitely not customable...
What games or other projects have you made with (or for) Game Maker?
Right now, I have meta_files to deal with, and I also am thinking of creating a game that has my popular 3d abilities. It will not be my regular style, for it will look like anime 3d, somewhat.. I had many other creations, but they are all in my "dead drive." I am running on my comp's backup drive which is not all that fast...
What are your favorite Game Maker games?
Jetz Fusion, Shawn 64
That one snake game by that one guy that made it into the GM hall of fame when there were still games on the GM site.
Seiklus by you :-p
hmm... what else... well, I guess that's it.
What are your favorite games NOT made with Game Maker?
Starcraft Brood War!
Jedi Knights III
Counter Strike: Assault
What advice would you give new Game Maker users or those who would like to improve?
Actually read the acrobat help file... j/k
But really, read the help file, ask questions in the forum, download examples, experiment, and hope! Also, if you go down to comments, you'll see another tip.
What elements of a game are most important to you and why?
Addicitivity and Game Play. Hey, Gameboy (especially the old one that didn't have color) didn't have the best graphics or the best sounds, but they still made gold! It's great if you want to keep playing the game over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, but that usually only comes with good game play.
Why do you make games? What is your primary inspiration, motivation, or both?
Well, it would be great to make a living out of them, but I do it just to show off my creativity. GML also helps me learn other programming languages.
Do you have other artistic pursuits other than game development? If so, what?
As mentioned, I try to do do great 3d artwork. I still have far to go with anim8or, and even though it may seem like simple program, it actually is just as powerful as the those in Pixar, but I can't really do much with it, because my computer's virtual memory, SUCKS!
Any other comments?
Never be normal!
