When and how did you discover Game Maker?

I THINK it was 2000. It was mentioned on TMF (sort of dutch MTV) so I checked it out.

Have you used any other game creation programs?

No, only some programming languages like Visual Basic (to make real looking computerprograms full with nonsense) Delphi (to make my own notepad the way I like it)
Turbo Pascal (to imitate the bootscreen so my dad would enter the password and I would know)
I lost all programs I ever made, and I unlearnt how to use these languages.

Oh yeah, and I started an entyre new game called 'Cyborganic 3D' once, it was a complete remake of Duke Nukem 3D, with own levels, own (3d) gfx and own sounds. But I never finished it, it had 3 levels and not all the sounds. In the 3rd level you were standing on a driving car killing robots with your minigun, but when the car reached the endpoint the game crashed and that's it :P It was actually quite cool IMO, since I was probably about 12 when I made it!

I made a lot of maps for Duke Nukem 3d, Witchhaven 2, Quake, Quake2 and Unreal.

What games or other projects have you made with (or for) Game Maker?

Demolition Kids @ http://members.home.nl/a.steenhuis/files/DKSetup.exe (for now)
Super Snake - Not downloadable at the moment - I don't have the webspace. And I never finished the game. No time.

[You can download Demolition Kids here (EXE, ~2.8 MB) and Super Snake here (EXE, ~5.6 MB) or here (ZIP, ~5.9 MB). -ed.]

What are your favorite Game Maker games?

I'm sorry but I have to say Demolition Kids and Super Snake :P I also liked Midnight Motel, Super 2P Pong (or something) and ehm... this underwatergame with boats or something and other games by the same author
(dont remember the authors)
Tho not really games, examples by Carl Gustafsson were also good IMO.

What are your favorite games NOT made with Game Maker?

Boulderdash, Total Distortion, Unreal, Unreal 2

What advice would you give new Game Maker users or those who would like to improve?

Be PATIENT

What elements of a game are most important to you and why?

I don't like ugly games, but those that lack gameplay or aren't fun to play again and again are also bad, IMO.

Why do you make games? What is your primary inspiration, motivation, or both?

I knew I could do it, and I had the time. I didn't like the tiny amount of (free amateur) quality games available.
I started DemoKids to proof for myself my game would be better then all the others, muhaha
Then I had this accident.. more time.. time to make Super Snake! I won a competition with that.

Do you have other artistic pursuits other than game development? If so, what?

Making music... Making GFX...
Sorry I lost a lot and the other stuff isn't online anymore.

Any other comments?

Now:
I live on my own.
I study 'Art and Technology'.
I don't have time for anything, cuz besides school, I waste a lot of time with friends and have to cook and clean once every now and then :P
