When and how did you discover Game Maker?
I discovered GM back in the mid/late 2001 when 3.3 was out, I didn't understand it at first then I read that Mark was going to release 4.0 so I waited.
Have you used any other game creation programs?
I've tried several other game making programs such as the Scrolling Game Development Kit, Dark Basic, The Games Factory, RPG Toolkit & some other ones buried on my hard drive. With all of these I tried making one game, a Megaman Fan game. I started working with these but they were too whack & complicated.
What games or other projects have you made with (or for) Game Maker?
Well I haven't finished any of my games. I have a list of games that are work-n-progress such like the Ghost N Goblins remake, Resident Evil Day, A Bubble Bobble Christmas and the Complete Megaman series on the NES. I also have some examples I've made & the GM Megaman tutorial that is always being updated.
What are your favorite Game Maker games?
Any game that
Dorfsquest makes
Any game that
Damaged makes
Any game that
r1ck14 makes
Well I've downloaded tons of GM games I just can't remember them all! :D
What are your favorite games NOT made with Game Maker?
The classic NES games, most of the known SNES games, the Sonic series. The under-rated N64 games & the deceased Dreamcast console with every single game. I love arcade games... too bad they're a dollar to play now. :(
What advice would you give new Game Maker users or those who would like to improve?
Take some time with your game, don't be in a RUSH to release it or upload it on the net.
What elements of a game are most important to you and why?
The gameplay is the most important thing in any game, period!!!!
and also the music.
Why do you make games? What is your primary inspiration, motivation, or both?
As I said before... I love games!! My 1st memories as a child were playing Ms. Pac-Man in the Laundromats while my moms washed clothes. Since I started playing around with pc's, I always wanted to make my own games.
Do you have other artistic pursuits other than game development? If so, what?
Well right now I'm trying to enroll in the Art Institute in Santa Monica Ca. for a Bachelor Degree in Game Art & Game Design. With that I want to enhance my skills further & start my own gaming company. I'm also working with un-signed music artist within my own community (mainly friends & family members) Rap groups & Rock bands, mostly anybody that just loves to make music. :)
Any other comments?
