LSD: The Dream Emulator
is a 1998 Japan-only Sony Playstation game, based on someone's ten-year dream journal.
, you wander though a series of odd and occasionally unsettling places. Running into anything changes the scene. A few actions, such as jumping off a cliff, end your session early. As you play through more "nights," things gradually become more strange and visually chaotic.
I discovered LSD
almost ten years after its release, but it's the sort of thing I'd always wished existed. It's one of the best things I've seen done with the medium of video games, and I'd love to see more like it.

Following are some of my screenshots from the game.
Inspired by the LSD game, someone made a freeware PC game called SOUP. It's much simpler and shorter than LSD. You can get it here
. (Search for the word SOUP on the page--that's the download link.) If you open the LZH file and the files don't seem to be right, try another program. I used WinRAR, and that one worked for me.
