LSD: The Dream Emulator

LSD: The Dream Emulator is a 1998 Japan-only Sony Playstation game, based on someone's ten-year dream journal.

In LSD, you wander though a series of odd and occasionally unsettling places. Running into anything changes the scene. A few actions, such as jumping off a cliff, end your session early. As you play through more "nights," things gradually become more strange and visually chaotic.

I discovered LSD almost ten years after its release, but it's the sort of thing I'd always wished existed. It's one of the best uses I've seen of the medium of video games, and I'd love to see more like it.

Following are some of my screenshots from the game.

SOUP

Inspired by LSD game, someone made a freeware PC game called SOUP. It's much simpler and shorter than LSD. Unfortunately, I don't know where this game can currently be downloaded. I may go ahead and host it myself at some point. The following images are from SOUP.
